Human Trafficking has no race, environment, age, gender, education level, social class, culture, or demographic area. Therefore its a universal social issue. The International Labour Organization estimates that there are 20.9 million victims of human trafficking globally (Polaris, 2015).
The International Organization estimates that forced labor and human trafficking 150 billion industry worldwide (Polaris, 2015). Each year about 17,500 are brought into the United States and held against their will as victims if human trafficking (human trafficking search, 2012). |

Human Trafficking is another name for modern day slavery and the bible state, North Carolina, is not except from this issue.
Human Trafficker utilize highway 185 and 195 in North Carolina to recruit, and enslave (WBTV, 2010). North Carolina ranks as the 8th most likely state in the United States where human trafficking that place (WBTV, 2010). |
Cases of Internet Sex Trafficking
April 2009, a man was sentenced to 24 years in prison for operating a human trafficking sex trade between Charlotte and Washington. Girl were smuggled in from New Mexico (WBTV, 2010).
In June 2009, a Duke University official, was arrested after an internet string. He was charged with trafficking a 5 year old boy for sex. His name was provided by a defendant in a different case (WBTV, 2010). In 2008, a spa in Union County was using Craiglist to advertise services that were offered by people who had been coerced into human trafficking scheme (WBTV, 2010). |
Cases of Labor and Sex Trafficking

Cumberland County authorities charged a mother with human trafficking after investigators said she sold her 5 year old daughter into sexual servitude in 2009 (WRAL, 2011). In Raleigh, a 26 year old male was arrested on charges of human trafficking. He was accused of holding four women in involuntary servitude between November 2013 and June of this year (WITN, 2014). |
